Privacy notice

How I use the information you send me when you get in touch.

Your information and your rights

Everything you share with me is kept private and confidential. The only exceptions are where there is a serious risk of harm, or where the law requires me to share something.

Who I am

I’m Clara Zapata, a counsellor and family constellations practitioner, working as Zapata Counselling & Therapies. I decide how and why your information is used, which makes me the “data controller” under UK data protection law.

What I collect

When you use the enquiry form, I collect your name, your email address or phone number (whichever you choose for my reply), the times that are safe to reach you if you ask me to phone, the topic you’d like to talk about, how you’d like to meet, and any message you choose to write.

Please keep private details for your call. If you do tell me something about your health, I treat it with extra care, because the law counts it as special category information.

Why I use it, and my legal basis

I use your details only to reply to your enquiry and, if you’d like, to arrange a free first call and a first session. My legal basis is your consent when you send the form, and taking steps at your request before we agree to work together.

If you share health information, my legal basis for using it is your explicit consent. You can withdraw consent at any time.

I don’t use your details for marketing, and I don’t sell or share them for advertising.

Who sees it

Only I read your enquiry. It reaches me through the website’s form and an email delivery service that passes it to my inbox, and the website itself is hosted by a web hosting company. These providers handle your message only so that it can reach me.

How long I keep it

I keep your enquiry only for as long as I need it to reply to you and arrange a first call. If we don’t go on to work together, I delete it afterwards. If we do work together, I will explain how I keep session records when we begin.

Your rights

You can ask me to show you the information I hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to limit how I use it, or to stop using it. You can also ask for a copy in a form you can move elsewhere. To use any of these rights, write to me at [email protected]. I’ll reply as soon as I can, and within one month.

If you’re unhappy

I’d like the chance to put things right first, so please write to me. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint (opens in a new tab).
